Winner are grinners………… and we’re smiling pretty hard!
The annual Australian Water Association WA Water Awards Gala Dinner was held last Friday night (28th November 2014) at the swanky Hyatt Regency in Perth’s CBD.
The ever affable and amusing Russell Woolf, ex-720 ABC radio Drive presenter and ex-ABC news weatherman was in fine form providing some droll commentary between awards presentations.
On arrival to the awards night, the Essential Environmental team were slightly bemused to find themselves nominated as finalists in the Conservation and Efficiency category, having originally nominated themselves in the Resource Management category for our Arterial Drainage Plan and Water Management Strategy for Yakamia Creek, Albany (as described in a previous blog article HERE), and Shelley (to her surprise!) as Water Professional of the Year.
However, when the winner of the Conservation and Efficiency category (which recognises excellence of new products or systems to improve and encourage water conservation) was announced, a shocked/happy-looking Essential Environmental team eventually badgered Helen into accepting the award on stage!
While Shelley was pipped at the post by legendary and hugely-deserving Department of Water figure Malcolm Robb, and joint-winner Special Counsel Daniela Tonon of Herbert Smith Freehills, and the Department of Water took out the Resource Management category with their Water Information Reporting portal, the Essential Environmental team is very proud of the recognition of our work!
