Urbaqua’s new model engineer: Afshin Nikrouh
Urbaqua is delighted to announce that it has recently expanded its ranks by taking on modelling expert and allround awesome engineer: Afshin Nikrouh.

Afshin Nikrouh: our new modelling expert!
Afshin is a civil engineer and hydrologist with over eight years professional experience in Australia and the Middle East. Afshin’s expertise in hydrology and drainage design (particularly surface water management and WSUD), comes off the back of completing urban water management reports for many of Perth’s local governments including the Cities of Gosnells, Rockingham, Kwinana, Canning, Bayswater, Stirling, South Perth and Armadale.
In particular, Afshin has completed flood studies, hydrological and hydraulic watercourse modelling, and sediment transport studies, both in support of urban development and resource projects in the Perth metropolitan area and Pilbara region. He is proficient in several advanced numerical modelling software including HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HEC-GEORAS, MIKE-URBAN, MIKE-FLOOD, XP-STORM, PONDS, ARC-GIS and AUTOCAD (phew! that’s a lot of models).
Afshin makes sure he leaves time for a bit of exercise and can be very competitive when it comes to table tennis and volleyball (new lunch time hobbies for the rest of Urbaqua perhaps?). However, his favourite (and most competitive) sport is tennis, with several former colleagues describing his on court demeanor as a cross between Federer and McEnroe. Watch out everyone, with a Fed-Enroe modeller at hand, Urbaqua will be serving up some ace urban water management advice (yes we said that)!
Please contact us at info@urbaqua.org.au if you would like any more information on how Afshin and the rest of the Urbaqua team can help you!
