The Essential Wanderers: Walking for a Cause

The registrations for Walk 4 Water are upon us again, this year walking from 16th to 20th of March. Their slogan “Change a Life With Every Step” has us reflecting upon how fortunate we are to have accessible cool, clean drinking water, free from parasites, turbidity, and odour. And it is with this in mind the Essential Environmental team is again taking on the Walk 4 Water challenge of 10,000 steps per day to raise money and awareness for this meaningful cause.

WaterAid MaliRun (or walked, if you will) by the WaterAid organisation, Walk 4 Water aims to raise funds to help provide communities across the world with access to safe water and sanitation. 10,000 steps is considered the average distance walked every day just to reach water in the developing world.

What the fundraising can do:

  • $200 can provide two hand pumps to a village in Papua New Guinea
  • $550 can provide pipes and other hardware to build a gravity fed water system
  • $1,255 can help provide a rainwater-harvesting tank for a community in Papua New Guinea

Team captain Halinka is taking The Essential Wanderers to a new walking heights, and you can do it too! You can register a team or join as an individual..
