Masters of WSUD: New WAter Ways masterclass series starting soon

Always wanted to become a Master of WSUD? Well now’s your chance: New WAter Ways have announced their first Masterclass series taking place in the first half of 2020.
These Masterclasses have been designed as a unique learning experience, including interactive place-based workshops to provide you with the chance to learn about the latest developments in WSUD in WA, and update or develop different sets of skills and knowledge. They will also be a great way way to meet and exchange ideas with other professionals within the industry.
The series comprises of four (4) sessions each focussing on a different element to deliver resilient and liveable cities and towns through WSUD:
1: Planning for resilient and liveable cities and towns – 19 February
2: Collaboration – within and outside your organisation – 25 March
3: Building a successful business case – 29 April
4: Communication and influence – 27 May
MASTERCLASS #1
The first class will be dedicated to planning for resilient and liveable cities and towns. Participants will be involved in various activities that will highlight and acknowledge the vital role of water in sustaining our natural systems and will enable professionals to understand how to deliver integrated place-based planning to achieve better outcomes for communities across WA, as we face growing challenges of climate change, increasing population, and declining water resources.
MASTERCLASS #2
Good collaboration skills are essential in almost all aspects of life and professional world. The second class will include exercises and presentations to develop the cooperative spirit in participants within and across organisations and sharpen theirs collaborative skills to benefit communities, organisations and the environment.
MASTERCLASS #3
When you have a particularly innovative project to deliver, a key component to success is a robust business case that will allow decision makers to see the true value of an investment. The third class is designed to provide practical skills and tools to enable practitioners to gain support for their projects and initiatives by building well-considered business plans.
MASTERCLASS #4
The final class of the series focuses on the strength and need for excellent communication and influence. In this class participants will improve these skills in order to increase their ability to create change by tailoring unique communication styles to specific audiences.
All sessions will be held at Kuditj in Northbridge, Perth and will run from 9am to 4pm. The classes will include presentations from some of WA’s top water experts including:
- Jeremy Maher, WA Water Professional of the Year 2019, City of Bayswater
- Nick Turner, WA Water Professional of the Year 2018, Water Corporation
- Prof David Pannell, UWA Economics expert
- A/Prof Helen Fordham, Media and communications expert, UWA
- Anna Kelderman, Shape Urban, Winner IAP2 National award
- Gary McCullough, Strategic planner, City of Canning
