Urbaqua is well known for its experience in facilitation, training, community engagement, and negotiating outcomes across a broad stakeholder group. Directors Shelley Shepherd and Helen Brookes have demonstrated their ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of parties, including all levels of government and industry.

They are both strong advocates for the ability of the land use planning system to deliver innovative development outcomes and liveable communities which respond to environmental and climatic conditions. This is exemplified by their lead roles in organisations such as New WAter Ways, Stormwater WA, and the Urban Development Institute of Australia (WA).
